When we were 13 my friend Lisa really liked him, so she made me and Cassie go up to him and stick our tongues in his ear, and that's how we met! That's perfectly acceptable behavior for being 13 I'm pretty sure. So Wednesday after dinner at Fogo, he took me to the falls and stuck his tongue in my ear and asked me to marry him. :)

I love super paper mario for the wii! I am usually really bad at all the new 3D mario games like super mario sunshine and such, I can't get past like the first few jumping areas, but super paper mario owns. It's like classic mario combined with zelda-ish puzzles you have to solve for each level. This weekend I'm so torn between playing that, and reading "Red Seas Under Red Skies"... Sean is getting a pre-copy from Scott's brother. I will get to read it first of course, because I will beat him up if he tries anything.

Sean and I recently got back from Puerto Vallarta Mexico for Luke and Catherine's wedding. Pics should follow soon, Sean is holding my pictures hostage on his computer and I'm too lazy to demand them. We spent 2 nights in Chacala at Mar de Jade where they got married, then back to PV for 7 days of good food and hiding from the sun.

I finally read scott_lynch's book "The Lies of Locke Lamora" in Mexico and I highly recommend it. The second book in the series "Red Seas Under Red Skies" is coming out in July (a week after Harry Potter), so don't forget to buy that too, it's about PIRATES! Hopefully Sean can score us an earlier copy, him and Scott and his brother Kevin have been friends since the jurassic era or something.

We just remodeled our kitchen too before we went to Mexico. Sean and his dad did most of the work, everything came from IKEA. We took out everything, tore the floors up, put down tiles, painted, and put in new cabinets and new appliances (minus dishwasher and fridge so far, we're too poor to buy those right now). Pictures are here. We only have a little bit of work left to do, like getting trim pieces, putting in a new outlet for the garbage disposal, 2 more cabinets to put in and some doors.

You are in the US and I in Canada . Of the approximately 270 eBay transaction I have had, many have been with US Vendors and Buyers. Therefore I have learned how to deal with and do well when it comes to cross border issues. The key is to keep it as simple as possible and just be honest with them, it works every time.

Here are some tips on sending stuff across the border, after several years they are tried and true. Please read and understand them.

A) Use the Post Office -- Do Not repeat Do Not Use a Courier Service, as they open all packages and charge a non refundable service fee for doing that. Then they charge customs duty even when none is due, as in the case of incorrect values or used items & gifts.. They maintain one can always reclaim the duty fees from Canada Customs. But then it is only a portion and it takes takes about 90 days, if ever. Canada Customs reclaims it from them ( the courier ) which they are not too crazy about. They would much rather the amounts are not reclaimed.

B) Package the item in a small safe package as plain as possible , the plainer and smaller the better. Do not show or affix any company Logos as they act as a flag to stop the package for inspection.

C) Clearly mark on the outside what is inside ( name of the item) ( a new or used whatever ) and the value I paid you prior to shipping costs( $0.00 ) A copy of the auction page within the package also helps. That way if it is opened , then what is stated is exactly what is found.

May I suggest ---- Used Apple iSight Web Cam ---

D) following these simple steps usually results in the package just sailing right through, unstopped unhindered.

May I also suggest that due to the higher value of this item. It will be likely this item will be stopped, and Duty may be charged, that will be dealt with when it happens. However even if you have to ask me for additional money get a tracking number. That number usually comes along with a default insurance of $400. because they the post office want themselves covered against loss.

That is it Please acknowledge or get back to me if something is not crystal clear.

So I spend most of my days stuck in meetings and 5 hours later, I get this email from him.

I get this email back...

"Thank you for responding Eve . I hope you did understand it, because I think English may not be your first language. if you need me to explain send me a phone number and I will call you at my cost."

Bold added for effect.

First I thought it would be pretty hilarious if I quoted his original email and highlight every missing punctuation mark or bad grammar/sentence structure and send it back without anything else. Then after laughing about it for a while I sent this back.

"I don't know if you mean to be insulting, but you should really spell check, grammar check, and punctuation check your own messages before you make such assumptions. I've been an eBay member since January 1999, I've shipped many packages all over the country so I am very aware of the process. In the past month I've sent at least 5 packages to Canada without problems to friends, so your original email felt a little insulting, but I chuckled at it because I assume you send this to every U.S. seller you come across. But to assume my grasp of the english language is lacking based off of one sentence is completely disrespectful even if you just wanted your package to arrive promptly. So please, have a little faith in people, especially one that's been on eBay for longer and has more feedback. Rest assured that I have the mental capabilities to drive to the post office and fill out the forms correctly.

Last week was Jeff's last week at the company, so as a "thing to remember us by", we sent Matt into his office to "see his car key for a second" and accidently pop his trunk. Then we proceeded to fill his entire trunk with packing peanuts. It was pretty damn hilarious. Today I brought in an extra "USB lock" that I got from woot's bag of crap, its the dumbest thing ever, its a combination lock for any usb port, I guess you can put it on your usb storage dillios and lock them. But instead of using it for good, we're going to use it for evil - lock a coworker's mouse or keyboard when they are not at their desk. muahaha.

With Jeff gone, and Mike too a week ago, our development team is down to 4 people. So apparently I inherited the Opsware NAS effort and I'm suppose to present this solution to EDS in a week and I've had about 2 weeks to get familiarized with it. Thats like trying to sell shoes without wearing any... but I think I can BS through it np. I also inherited another CiscoWorks security project which they are projecting ~500 hours to finish. GOODIES ME? :(

At least I have guitar hero 2 now. Last night I beat all of easy and medium in one sitting. My fingers are jelly now. Sean and I played some two player, its done incredibly well. Also as a new feature, you can practice songs and break them up by parts and slow the music down, so you can practice fast solos on those crazy songs on expert. The funniest part is when you get to play freebird. I won't ruin it. Just remember, dropping your pants on stage does not deploy star power.

I just scored 3 bags of crap from WOOT during their woot-off, probably $8 poorly spent but how can you resist buying a bag of crap, or better yet 3 bags of crap?! 4500 bags of crap gone in 5 minutes and crashed most of their servers. Weight is a funny thing. I weighed myself on Tuesday, and then again on Wednesday, and there was a 5 lb difference. Apparently I lost 5 pounds overnight. I told my coworker who was complaining that she gained 3 lbs to make her feel better (or worse?). (she's like 105 lbs wtf)

Speaking of the gym, I walked into the locker room yesterday and... A WALL OF SKIN CRITS YOU FOR 500000 DAMAGE, YOU DIE! Seriously, I've never seen so much nude body mass that belonged to one single individual in my life... :( I think I'm a little traumatized by it.

Speaking of FAT, I bought a deep fat fryer. I made tempura shrimp and asparagus last night. yuuuum. I'm looking for other stuff I can fry now. OILICIOUS!

So me coworker asks me a math question that arr 70% o' all college graduates fail.

If a cubic feet o' x material weighs 100 lbs, how much does a cubic yard o' x material weigh?

First I be like "how many feet be in a yard again?" (on accoun' o' seriously, learn t' use metric swabbies.)
He`s like "3."

I be like "o yea ye take that weight an' ye multiply 't by 3 cubunk, which be 9"

people and hair

I don't get it, I'm watching these makeover shows and there are soooo many people who are like "I'm so attached to the length of my hair! Don't cut it!!!" and they start crying when it's cut. How are people so attached to the length of their hair? I also don't understand people who stay with the same boring haircut year after year. Hair is head decoration, it's meant to be changed, right?? If Adam said, hey I bet you'd look awesome with your hair super short, I'd say "haha you're full of shit" and I'd probably let him cut it just to prove him wrong. Hair grows back. Why are people so obsessed with it being the same?

I got pix of Stacy's Bachelorette Party, Adam and Jon's housewarming party, and Stacy and Anderson's Wedding up. I haven't posted pics in a while, there were a bunch of weird movies too on my camera that I totally forgot about. I still need to upload those sometimes. My pictures of the wedding sucks, I was in the wedding party and Sean was ushering so we couldn't really take any pictures of the ceremony. For the reception, I realized my camera had no battery life left because I took so many pictures the two days before (bachelorette and Adam/Jon's party), and on top I was a bit too tipsy to remember to take any pictures... so hopefully I'll get some nice pictures from other people, and I'll post the professional pictures when Stacy gets them.

This week our friend Dan is in town from Arizona, we decided to go to the renfest on Sunday but it was rainey and gross, and renfest turns into mudfest whenever its wet so it would've been absolutely miserable there. We went to MoA instead and I bought some running shoes (mine were killing me!) and a cute shirt from H&M.

During this last weekend I had 2 people tell me that I look skinnier, that's always a good thing to hear! I haven't really lost much weight, but I think my workout routeine is working pretty well and I'm probably loosing fat and gaining muscle, thus my weight isn't really changing but I look skinnier. I think I'm going to shoot for a bit over my high school weight of 125 lbs for a May goal, I'm a little under 140 lbs right now. May because our friends Catherine and Luke are getting married in Mexico on Cinco de Mayo and I want to look spiff in a swimsuit for the beach. It'll probably be easy if I followed a very strict diet and exercise routeine but I ain't doin that :P I just hope I can continue to drag myself to the gym everyday when it gets cold and dark out.

I've been ordering dining certificates from restaurant.com and I do have to say, this site is freeeeekin awesome. Last month I got a dining cert for Saji Ya (sushi joint in st. paul), the cert is good for $25, I paid $6. The catch is, you have to spend $35 on food between 2+ people (like that's hard at all lol!). Some places have special restrictions like "you can't use this on friday/saturday" and "18% gratuity calculated before discount" but it's all stated on the cert. I just got one today for Babalu, its this incredible salsa bar and restaurant downtown minneapolis, cert is for $25, I got it for $4. You go and order like $35 of food, you end up paying $14 total plus tip.

I figured out the best way to get cheap certs - all you have to do is wait for them to release a coupon code towards the end of the month. This is when they want to move out the last of the certificates for the current month, so you get $10 certs (good for $25) for $4. The selection kinda sucks towards the end of the month, but if you can find places you like its damn well worth the money.

I just ordered some jewlery at overstock.com because they are stupid and fucked up a coupon code! They had a $20 off purchase of $200 code, except they kind of forgot the purchase of $200 part. So I ordered a necklace and a pair of earrings for $19.99, applied the coupon, and paid $1 for shipping. Both of them show as "accepted" and sent to shipping, so hopefully I ordered fast enough that they can't cancel my orders :) Gotta love camping slickdeals.net.

Earlier this week I made a pretty beefy order from amazon, they had the roomba on sale for $89.99, its this robot that vacuums your floor for you. We tried it out, and it actually picks up a ton of dirt and dog hair on hardwood and kitchen floors. I also got a Mario Batali dutch oven because I keep burning good recipes because our pots suck, and some yoga pants and sewing books, all of it came to $201.38, but the real beauty is when I applied $200 in gift certificate to the order that I got for free from citibank for using a rewards card, so my total was $1.38. Yay for mostly free stuff!!!

I think everybody who uses a silly "credit card" from their bank needs to check out these rewards credit cards. I have the citibank rewards card, every dollar spent earns you 1 point, and you get double points at grocery stores, gas stations, and affiliated merchants. For every 5000 points, or $5000 spent, you get a 50 dollar gift certificate to a bunch of places, my favorite is amazon because you can buy everything there, including kitchen sinks. Earlier this year I got $300 in GCs to best buy, which went into buying our big screen TV. And if you think about it, if you go out to eat, or go to the grocery store, even charge your utilities/cell phone bills to it, you end up spending money you need to spend anyway, might as well get something for it! All of that stacks up too, so in a few months you're like holy shit I have hundreds of dollars worth of points I can use and buy myself something nice. I'm trying to see how I can charge my mortgage to it :P The only thing you gotta remember is to not go hogwild because it's a "credit card", once you start paying interest on what you charge, no matter how good of rewards or deals you're getting, its not worth paying like 20% interest per month on that crap.

As I was leaving my Friday 3pm mandatory happy hour with coworkers, I walked towards my car and saw a huge scratch on the front left side bumper! Ok maybe it's not huge, but big enough to go "which motherfucker scratched my car!!!" Upon closer inspection, the frontside left bumper area had a few lines of paint scratched off, and in the middle of the bumper, a few paint chips came off and you can see the black part underneigh. Figures, I finish paying off my car and some jackass has to scratch it up. I think it was from Kierans last Friday night, they have a notoriously small parking ramp, the ramp is so small that I don't think SUVs or trucks can even maneuver around. I bet some ahole driving a minivan or something tried to get out of a spot and bumped into my poor car a few times. I think a little bit of touch up paint will fix it up ok, but the chips might be problematic because it could start to rust later. :(
